Nun tickling began in the late 1700's in the devout Christian region of Berkshire. Many believe that nun tickling was started by Lord Heftylumpalot. But those people are silly as Lord Heftylumpalot was actually seriously opposed to nuns and tickling.
Nun tickling died out in the early 1800's but was taken up again in the 1970's. However, by 1982 the art of tickling nuns was regarded as obscene and banned in many parts of the world. Rumour has it that small villages in Norfolk do not uphold the ban and hold annual Nun Tickling events.
